Schlage Closing Connecticut Plant but Still Supports Legacy Electronics
Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies is closing the Schlage Forestville, Connecticut manufacturing facility, but says the company will still support legacy electronic products previously manufactured there. In conjunction with the closing, Schlage says it has developed a new electronic security platform which will upgrade the Forestville products to the adaptable (AD-Series) and Core (CO) electronic locks throughout 2010. The AD-Series products replace the legacy line of Schlage Computed Managed (CM), Campus Lock (CL) wireless (WA) and VIP electronic security offerings. Later this year, Schlage will release the Core (CO) Series offline electronic locks. In addition, Schlage is revitalizing its MagLocks and Power Supply products to better serve the changing needs of the marketplace. As we continue to focus on innovative designs and technology to better serve our customers, they can rest assured that electronic security will be the integral part of our global strategy, said Steve Down, vice president of Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, Product Management.

Secura Key Plug-in Wireless Network Module
Secura Key is introducing a wireless network module which allows the companys SK-ACP 2-door access control panel to easily connect to a Local Area Network to monitor and control an access control system. This module replaces expensive outboard network adapters, eliminating the requirement for an additional enclosure, cabling and a power supply. The key advantage of the wireless module is that it enables network access in locations where there is no preexisting Ethernet cable, thus providing solutions for challenging installations.
The compact SK-WLS MOD for 802.11b/g plugs directly into the SK-ACP panel (Revision N or later) and receives its power from the panel. To enable access to a local network, the module integrates a fully developed TCP/IP network stack and operating system. The module can be configured remotely over the network. The wireless module can be located using the software provided with any 802.11b/g wireless router. The module uses the Transmission Control Protocol to assure that no data is lost or duplicated and that everything sent arrives correctly at the target.
The wireless module uses the widely accepted 802.11g protocol to connect to the wireless infrastructure, and is it fully compatible with 802.11b wireless networks. The module includes power and status LEDs, and an antenna, which is mounted on the access control panel enclosure.
